After some careless play in the Valletta Tornadoes defense, Jonathan Scriha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Michael Zammit Cutajar. The Valletta Tornadoes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Michael Zammit Cutajar should have stopped the shot. Roberto Teuma Castelletti blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Michael Zammit Cutajar having to make a save. A hard shot by Mattia Gera de Petri from long distance, 43 minutes into the match, got Juan Duca's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 45th minute, Ġorġ Portanier ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juan Duca was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jonathan Scriha to strike the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the game, Juan Bond was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Valletta Tornadoes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gharb Rangers the free kick. A collision led to Valletta Tornadoes getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Juan Bond hit a great ball. Michael Zammit Cutajar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Petroni, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. 61 minutes into the match, Valletta Tornadoes's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Petroni came free, but Michael Zammit Cutajar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luke Godfrey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 64 played minutes Gharb Rangers got a freekick which was hit by Neville Depasquale. After a rather tough play, Valletta Tornadoes's Ġorġ Portanier got a free kick in the 72nd minute. If Tim Callus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tony Petroni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luke Godfrey in the 81st minute of play forced Gharb Rangers's goalkeeper Juan Duca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Michael Zammit Cutajar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tim Callus in the 84th minute. Jonathan Scriha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Juan Duca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ġorġ Portanier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Petroni recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
