Sam Lustenberger's late challenge caught a Wootton Bassett City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sam Lustenberger helped the player get up and apologised. 19 minutes into the match, Thomas Batliner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Liborius Mitter. Newton Abbot's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thomas Batliner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Victor Frick struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Liborius Mitter didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thomas Batliner went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Fredi Schädler blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Liborius Mitter having to make a save. In the 44th minute, Antonio Zurflüh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fredi Schädler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Newton Abbot players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Wootton Bassett City were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Victor Frick to make the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 52nd minute by Victor Frick got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Thomas Batliner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Liborius Mitter having to make a save. Wootton Bassett City's Antonio Zurflüh got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 77th minute of the game, Antoni Thöny landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. In the 78th minute, Carlos Meyer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Newton Abbot's goalkeeper Liborius Mitter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Victor Frick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Fridolin Fry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, Newton Abbot's goalkeeper Liborius Mitter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thomas Batliner. The Wootton Bassett City fans' excitement grew in the 91st match minute when Wootton Bassett City's Victor Frick looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Newton Abbot's Liborius Mitter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Newton Abbot from getting a goal against them. In the 96thth minute of the game Antonio Zurflüh who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newton Abbot's Liborius Mitter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the final whistle sounded Wootton Bassett City left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Newton Abbot.
