After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Antonello Bozzo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gerar Paolillese's supporters rose to their feet, but Antonello Bozzo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arturo Castelli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute Andrea Finocchio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Addario saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Angelo Di Berardino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gerar Paolillese's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Di Berardino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arturo Castelli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to San Zaccaria getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Fulvio Castrucci hit a great ball. Arturo Castelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonello Bozzo in the 40th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Gerar Paolillese's Antonello Bozzo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arturo Castelli narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When Angelo Di Berardino came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Gerar Paolillese fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angelo Di Berardino couldn't finish the play.
