The supporters of Novi Vinodolski Vitez booed when HNK Cibalia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrijan Zorić didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ostoja Peroković received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Nikola Stepić tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th match minute, HNK Cibalia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ljubo Markotić to maneuver through the defense. After 16 played minutes HNK Cibalia got a freekick which was hit by Adrijan Zorić. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alen Bosanac in the 17th minute of play forced HNK Cibalia's goalkeeper Nikola Stepić to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute Ljubo Markotić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maksim Hajni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. HNK Cibalia's Nikola Stepić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alen Bosanac in the 36th minute of play. Maksim Hajni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edo Đalski, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. After the first half HNK Cibalia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edo Đalski made a kick off. Novi Vinodolski Vitez's Maksim Hajni proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Novi Vinodolski Vitez from getting a goal against them. When Ljubo Markotić came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the HNK Cibalia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ljubo Markotić couldn't finish the play. Nikola Stepić showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alen Bosanac, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After 63 played minutes HNK Cibalia got a freekick which was hit by Jakov Kartus. After a defensive mix-up in HNK Cibalia's zone, Ostoja Peroković stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nikola Stepić came out of the goal and Ostoja Peroković tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Novi Vinodolski Vitez booed when HNK Cibalia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven Šerbedžija didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 69th minute of the match Novi Vinodolski Vitez got a corner. HNK Cibalia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rade Šišić ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Novi Vinodolski Vitez's corner Rade Šišić fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nikola Stepić quite easily take care of the ball. Alen Bosanac blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nikola Stepić having to make a save. In the 74th match minute, Novi Vinodolski Vitez was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ostoja Peroković to maneuver through the defense. If Ostoja Peroković had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 86 minutes into the match, HNK Cibalia's Bruno Bajac broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 88th minute, Arijan Ležaić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. HNK Cibalia's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
