Jean-Philippe Cossart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grégoire Duthu in the 14th minute of play. Karl Falempin struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Jean-Philippe Cossart didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olympique Lyonnais. Thèdes's Jean-Philippe Cossart proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Thèdes from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Grégoire Duthu in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jean-Philippe Cossart saved Thèdes from getting behind. Grégoire Duthu in the 29thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jean-Philippe Cossart, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 31 minutes into the game, Cheikh Maurer threw the ball into play from the sideline. Olympique Lyonnais's Blaise Burnichon quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some careless play in the Thèdes defense, Grégoire Duthu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean-Philippe Cossart. The Thèdes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean-Philippe Cossart should have stopped the shot. 35 minutes in the game Cheikh Maurer did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to René Scouarnec. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roland Bibard in the 37th minute of play forced Olympique Lyonnais's goalkeeper Zinedine Vivien to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute Billy Chereau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zinedine Vivien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Grégoire Duthu to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the game, Cheikh Maurer threw the ball into play from the sideline. A very good chance for a goal. Jean-Philippe Cossart took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marc Le Bourhis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grégoire Duthu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Jean-Philippe Cossart tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th match minute, Thèdes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by René Scouarnec to maneuver through the defense. Grégoire Duthu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the match, Olympique Lyonnais's goalkeeper Zinedine Vivien had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roland Bibard. The audience was convinced that Grégoire Duthu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jean-Philippe Cossart was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Cheikh Maurer made in the 75th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Hippolyte Boschet immediately put the ball in play. Karl Falempin kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. René Scouarnec hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. If Grégoire Duthu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cheikh Gorge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Philippe Cossart having to interfere. In the 95th match minute, Olympique Lyonnais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Thion to maneuver through the defense.
