The Real Sociedad fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when Real Sociedad's Libertad Sarmiento looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 17th match minute, Real Sociedad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ale Kutas to maneuver through the defense. 24 minutes into the match, Real Sociedad's goal looked a bit too open when Dorian Moussu came free, but Sauveur Lisundia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Terry Ferreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Libertad Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Libertad Sarmiento in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Terry Ferreira saved Olympique de Mornas from getting behind. 40 minutes into the game, Real Sociedad's Gaël Janssens nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Terry Ferreira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The Olympique de Mornas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Real Sociedad were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pierre-Emmanuel Bruyas to make the kick off. Terry Ferreira was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Libertad Sarmiento showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 67 minute of play. Libertad Sarmiento received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Terry Ferreira came out and tried to block the shot, but Libertad Sarmiento slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 72nd minute. In the 76th match minute, Olympique de Mornas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mickaël Chareyron to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute, Libertad Sarmiento reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Terry Ferreira. The goal made the score 0-7. Mickaël Chareyron hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. In the 93rd minute, Real Sociedad's Libertad Sarmiento ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Terry Ferreira. Terry Ferreira yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-8. Vicente Millanos short, quick shot in the 97thth minute got Terry Ferreira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
