But to his dismay, Arnoldo Canal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Atilano Grau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaspar Millán in the 24th minute of play. Atilano Grau showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anatolio Comas, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. REAL SOCIEDAD were furious when Albi Zapatero was red carded, 33 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 33rd match minute, REAL SOCIEDAD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albi Zapatero to maneuver through the defense. Pelayo Balcells took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 35th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Atilano Grau. REAL SOCIEDAD's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After having played for 38 minutes, Bibiano Herrero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. REAL SOCIEDAD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bibiano Herrero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Atilano Grau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaspar Millán in the 40th minute of play. Atilano Grau came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Olmeda De Las Fuentes's Gaspar Millán. But to his dismay, Gaspar Millán quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Bazil Rodriguez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tonio Acha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Arnoldo Canal made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Bazil Rodriguez managed to get in a good position for a shot. REAL SOCIEDAD's supporters rose to their feet, but Bazil Rodriguez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Veremundo Ruiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tonio Acha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 61 minutes, Bazil Rodriguez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. REAL SOCIEDAD's Bibiano Herrero got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 82 minutes, Tonio Acha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. REAL SOCIEDAD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tonio Acha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Olmeda De Las Fuentes booed when REAL SOCIEDAD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bazil Rodriguez didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Bibiano Herrero fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored REAL SOCIEDAD's protests and gave Bibiano Herrero a yellow card for diving instead. After 87 played minutes REAL SOCIEDAD got a freekick which was hit by Bibiano Herrero. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Tonio Acha managed to get in a good position for a shot. REAL SOCIEDAD's supporters rose to their feet, but Tonio Acha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Veremundo Ruiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tonio Acha in the 92nd minute of play forced Olmeda De Las Fuentes's goalkeeper Veremundo Ruiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chants of Olmeda De Las Fuentes echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as REAL SOCIEDAD had held the ball for most of the match.
