When Luis Lagunas fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Alfera's protests and gave Luis Lagunas a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Luis Lagunas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dino Castro in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Celso Cabrera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of La Alfera booed when Ecija CF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cheche Urruti didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dino Castro in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Celso Cabrera saved Ecija CF from getting behind. Baldemer Soler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Porfiro Noya tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dino Castro to make the kick off. The supporters of Ecija CF booed when La Alfera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Lagunas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celso Cabrera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fidel Tarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fidel Tarin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luis Lagunas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Monte Barrientos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute, Dino Castro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 95th match minute, Ecija CF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baldemer Soler to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dino Castro in the 96th minute of play forced Ecija CF's goalkeeper Celso Cabrera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ecija CF players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for La Alfera.
