Carlet's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Igualada AFC the free kick. The supporters of Igualada AFC booed when Carlet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ascencio Reyes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 7 minutes into the match, Igualada AFC's Gerard Acedo broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 9th minute, Igualada AFC's Mino Puig ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Demario Morientes. Demario Morientes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Cruz March sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute, Gaizkine Galego ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Checa Sauca was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Demario Morientes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leobardo Zurica in the 28th minute. With his leg Demario Morientes managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Igualada AFC's Leobardo Zurica fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carlet's goalkeeper Demario Morientes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Carlet's Txema Idiaquez got a free kick in the 37th minute. Demario Morientes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leobardo Zurica in the 38th minute. Mino Puig blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Demario Morientes having to make a save. In the 41st minute, Mino Puig reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Demario Morientes. The goal made the score 3-1. Mino Puig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leobardo Zurica struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Demario Morientes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Igualada AFC. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mino Puig stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Carlet getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Txema Idiaquez hit a great ball. If Leobardo Zurica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Demario Morientes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mino Puig in the 64th minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Leobardo Zurica got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Mino Puig sped through Carlet's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Demario Morientes. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Leobardo Zurica managed to get in a good position for a shot. Igualada AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Leobardo Zurica was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Demario Morientes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Carlet's Jacques Japón got a free kick in the 73rd minute. When Alfredo Silvestre fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carlet's protests and gave Alfredo Silvestre a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Carlet getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Alfredo Silvestre hit a great ball. Carlet's Demario Morientes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mino Puig in the 79th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mino Puig in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Demario Morientes saved Carlet from getting behind. If Leobardo Zurica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 minutes of play Carlet's Alfredo Silvestre was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Alfredo Silvestre hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. 97 minutes into the match, Igualada AFC's Mino Puig sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Demario Morientes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Igualada AFC fully deserved thier win.
