In the 15th minute, Morgan Sachs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nicolas Blohberger during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Gemmerich FSV booed when Kallenbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jochen Werkmeister prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Casimir Krughöfer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jochen Werkmeister was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Björn Haileck kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cosmo Hoeft. That made the score 1-1 in the 24 minute of play. Jochen Werkmeister stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Volker Schwenke's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Kallenbach's goal looked a bit too open when Casimir Krughöfer came free, but Jochen Werkmeister reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 42 minutes, Cosmo Hoeft successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Cosmo Hoeft made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Janek Schott sent off a good shot on target. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Kallenbach's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Casimir Krughöfer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Jochen Werkmeister didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gemmerich FSV. In the 79th minute Björn Haileck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cosmo Hoeft saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
