The Union Giesenhausen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Derk Grübe should have stopped the shot. In the 11th minute Sebastian Klomfaß shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Spanl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 12th match minute, Harvard University was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haiko Schimmöller to maneuver through the defense. Herbert Rasp's late challenge caught a Union Giesenhausen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Herbert Rasp helped the player get up and apologised. Union Giesenhausen's Felix Horrer couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 14th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Harvard University. 20 minutes into the match, Union Giesenhausen's goal looked a bit too open when Erdal Erdogan came free, but Derk Grübe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erdal Erdogan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Union Giesenhausen's defense didn't have a chance, in the 26th minute, when Erdal Erdogan scored to the left of an out of position Derk Grübe, making the score, 2-0. In the 30th minute, Felix Horrer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st minute, one of Harvard University:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Harvard University. The referee gave Union Giesenhausen a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Felix Horrer, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Harvard University's Benjamin Spanl. 2-1. An unexpected shot in the 49th minute by Erdal Erdogan got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erdal Erdogan was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Union Giesenhausen's zone, Erdal Erdogan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Derk Grübe came out of the goal and Erdal Erdogan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Union Giesenhausen's Derk Grübe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yves Waldner in the 77th minute of play. In the 88th minute Haiko Schimmöller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derk Grübe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yves Waldner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erdal Erdogan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Derk Grübe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Union Giesenhausen's Nelson Buschenhagen got a free kick in the 95th minute. Benjamin Spanl made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Guido Hertel sent off a good shot on target. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Harvard University had played much better football throughout.
