Torsten Goldsche in the 8thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Charly Kösters, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Karsten Hußmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurizio Reimann in the 13th minute of the match. Charly Kösters stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Torsten Goldsche's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Torsten Goldsche fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charly Kösters having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Govelin's zone, Philipp Kucharczyk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charly Kösters came out of the goal and Philipp Kucharczyk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Charly Kösters managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's Philipp Kucharczyk fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 25 minutes in the game, Philipp Kucharczyk fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Charly Kösters having to interfere. Alfred Marienfeld's late challenge caught a SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfred Marienfeld helped the player get up and apologised. Alfred Marienfeld hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Charly Kösters didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA. With his leg Charly Kösters managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's Philipp Kucharczyk fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Philipp Kucharczyk got free with Charly Kösters in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Torsten Goldsche took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Charly Kösters to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Klaus Inger to strike the kick off in the second half. Torsten Goldsche fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charly Kösters having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Philipp Kucharczyk in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Charly Kösters saved Govelin from getting behind. Karsten Hußmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurizio Reimann, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Charly Kösters made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Philipp Kucharczyk in the 63rd minute of play. In the 67th minute, Klaus Inger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 70th minute Torsten Goldsche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charly Kösters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA booed when Govelin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Till Mieth didn't get a good kick on the ball. Philipp Kucharczyk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Charly Kösters tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Philipp Kucharczyk blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Charly Kösters having to make a save. If Philipp Kucharczyk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Charly Kösters showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torsten Goldsche in the 94th minute of the match. Charly Kösters took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Philipp Kucharczyk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There was no doubt that SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA were the better team. SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
