The referee ignored Ottershofen's protests and gave Gerd Schellheimer a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ottershofen getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Gerd Schellheimer hit a great ball. Palle Sandt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Uli Gentner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mike Bollwerk struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Jupp Abschatz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ottershofen. Wendelin Hennicke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jupp Abschatz having to interfere. After 47 played minutes Ottershofen got a freekick which was hit by Jakob Schloss.

The wind increased when Uli Gentner made the kick off in the second half. Mike Bollwerk kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
