Ditmar Klomfaß showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Max Wagefeld in the 10th minute of the match. Bob Kampeter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elard Köhn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Figen Gowinkowsky in the 14th minute. German Patriots's Ditmar Klomfaß played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carsten Thomale in the 18th minute of play. Ditmar Klomfaß stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carsten Thomale's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Andrej Frommermann hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Siegfried Lautenbach during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Carlo Altmaier helped the player get up and apologised. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bob Kampeter to make the kick off.
