With a little luck, Unterhaching's Berko Lamp got control of the ball when Marco Limburg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Berko Lamp showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Mertens in the 11th minute of the match. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Elzweiler FSV's goalkeeper Nick Patrzek, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felix Heiduk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Nick Patrzek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roy Mertens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Berko Lamp having to interfere. Nick Patrzek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arbo Piecyk, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Felix Heiduk managed to get in a good position for a shot. Unterhaching's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Heiduk was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nick Patrzek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Felix Heiduk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nick Patrzek having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Unterhaching's goalkeeper Berko Lamp had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marco Limburg. Berko Lamp didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 35th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Nick Patrzek didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Heiduk went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. If Felix Heiduk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Roy Mertens made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Roy Mertens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berko Lamp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th minute, Roy Mertens ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Berko Lamp was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 63rd minute Marco Limburg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berko Lamp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Berko Lamp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michael Klauck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Unterhaching getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Bernd Meiniger hit a great ball. 70 minutes into the match, Elzweiler FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Heiduk came free, but Nick Patrzek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elzweiler FSV's Nick Patrzek proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Elzweiler FSV from getting a goal against them. 81 minutes into the match, Unterhaching's Arvid Schurwanz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nick Patrzek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Bernd Meiniger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
