The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Christoph Kaufhold received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. In the 16thth minute of the game Christoph Kaufhold who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Lahnstein's Mehmet Becker was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Wilfried Steininger's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Richard Thieltges skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some careless play in the WATTENSCHEID defense, Paul Beckmann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Richard Thieltges. The audience was convinced that Jan Birmes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mehmet Becker was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. The referee felt a red card was in order, 66 minutes into the game, when Sven Heintz put in a rough tackle. After 65 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for WATTENSCHEID! When the referee blew the final whistle, FC Lahnstein could leave the field as winners, despite WATTENSCHEID having more of the ball for most of the match.
