Bernd Vittinghoff started the match with the kick off. Bernd Vittinghoff could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Joachim Brandborn made a huge save. In the 14th play minute Bernd Vittinghoff came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Joachim Brandborn. 1-0. After 21 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Ameisenigel! 25 minutes into the game, Peer Schmelzer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Ameisenigel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iserlohner Heide FC the free kick. Bernd Vittinghoff could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Joachim Brandborn made a huge save. 29 minutes into the match, FC Ameisenigel's goal looked a bit too open when Johann Ebbenga came free, but Thomas Kirchberger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 34 played minutes Iserlohner Heide FC got a freekick which was hit by Rudolf Tiedemann. In the 35th match minute, Iserlohner Heide FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henning Brede to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Iserlohner Heide FC booed when FC Ameisenigel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anton Otto didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Iserlohner Heide FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Georg Faßnacht hit a great ball. After 41 played minutes Iserlohner Heide FC got a freekick which was hit by Quint Werner. Joachim Brandborn was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Peer Schmelzer. Bernd Vittinghoff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rudolf Gerulat made a kick off. The supporters of Iserlohner Heide FC booed when FC Ameisenigel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walt Günther didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Bernd Vittinghoff got free in front of the goal in the 56th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Joachim Brandborn was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Rudolf Tiedemann kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. A collision led to Iserlohner Heide FC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Rudolf Tiedemann hit a great ball. In the 64th minute, Bernd Vittinghoff ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joachim Brandborn was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. When Bernd Vittinghoff came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the FC Ameisenigel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernd Vittinghoff couldn't finish the play. Joachim Brandborn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernd Vittinghoff in the 75th minute of the match. When Christoph Orthaus came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the FC Ameisenigel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christoph Orthaus couldn't finish the play. Iserlohner Heide FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
