Birk Kreuzer started the match with the kick off. FC ReherPuls's Béla Lämmel got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Béla Lämmel's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 14thth minute, Gunnar Tiggelkamp skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With his leg Gunnar Tiggelkamp managed to avoid a goal in the 14thth minute, when FC ReherPuls's Béla Lämmel fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Béla Lämmel scored 1-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gunnar Tiggelkamp, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 24 minutes into the game, Walter Derix was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC ReherPuls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grüna the free kick. After 24 played minutes FC ReherPuls got a freekick which was hit by Walter Derix. Gunnar Tiggelkamp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Béla Lämmel in the 31st minute of play. A collision led to FC ReherPuls getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Béla Lämmel hit a great ball. In the 36th minute FC ReherPuls were awarded a corner. Esra Klug went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Walter Derix managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Birk Kreuzer in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wolfram Schraier saved FC ReherPuls from getting behind. Grüna's Hans Ackermann got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

FC ReherPuls's Wolfram Schraier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Wannemaker in the 52nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Béla Lämmel in the 55th minute of play forced Grüna's goalkeeper Gunnar Tiggelkamp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Toralf Zeiss took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 59th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gunnar Tiggelkamp. Grüna's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Béla Lämmel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hans Ackermann struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Wolfram Schraier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grüna. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Béla Lämmel in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gunnar Tiggelkamp prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Béla Lämmel in the 72nd minute of play forced Grüna's goalkeeper Gunnar Tiggelkamp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Grüna booed when FC ReherPuls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ringo Mann didn't get a good kick on the ball. Grüna's Marco Wannemaker managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Predrag Tilly in the 76 minute of the game. After a rather tough play, FC ReherPuls's Walter Derix got a free kick in the 81st minute. 86 minutes into the match, FC ReherPuls's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Wannemaker came free, but Wolfram Schraier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Birk Kreuzer got free with Wolfram Schraier in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Béla Lämmel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gunnar Tiggelkamp was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. Mesut Leutheusser sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Predrag Tilly during the 94th minute.
