Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Leslie Mendel came out of the goal in the 2nd minute to try and stop a shot by BSC Jena 98's Anton Ackermann. But to his dismay, Anton Ackermann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After some careless play in the BAYER defense, Burkhard Michalke kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leslie Mendel. The BAYER fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leslie Mendel should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Burkhard Michalke in the 11th minute of play forced BAYER's goalkeeper Leslie Mendel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to BAYER getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. August Beilmann hit a great ball. After some careless play in the BAYER defense, Heiner Klütz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leslie Mendel. The BAYER fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leslie Mendel should have stopped the shot. Jupp Bast hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After 20 minutes, Kim Pretzer made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. BAYER's Leslie Mendel tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 24 minutes into the match, BAYER's goal looked a bit too open when Kim Pretzer came free, but Leslie Mendel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kim Pretzer in the 24th minute of play forced BAYER's goalkeeper Leslie Mendel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, BAYER's goal looked a bit too open when Heiner Klütz came free, but Leslie Mendel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jens Ebbenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jupp Bast in the 28th minute of play. Leslie Mendel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anton Ackermann in the 34th minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, BSC Jena 98's Anton Ackermann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leslie Mendel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 43 minutes into the game, Dieter Borchert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BAYER's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave BSC Jena 98 the free kick. Dieter Borchert kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. The supporters of BAYER booed when BSC Jena 98 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabian Beushausen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eskil Fleckenstein to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, BSC Jena 98's Heiner Klütz made it 0-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Leslie Mendel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jens Ebbenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eskil Fleckenstein in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Hermann Kloppers recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Leslie Mendel. Hermann Kloppers showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-7. Leslie Mendel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heiner Klütz, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After 64 minutes, Fabien Balint mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the BAYER and the BSC Jena 98 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, BAYER's Fabien Balint got a free kick in the 65th minute. When BSC Jena 98's Kim Pretzer in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BAYER's goalie prevented a goal. Leslie Mendel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heiner Klütz in the 69th minute. After some careless play in the BAYER defense, Anton Ackermann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leslie Mendel. The BAYER fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leslie Mendel should have stopped the shot. In the 74th minute Anton Ackermann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leslie Mendel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. BAYER's Leslie Mendel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save BAYER from getting a goal against them. Leslie Mendel made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Heiner Klütz sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of BSC Jena 98 booed when BAYER was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Kielmayer didn't get a good kick on the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Anton Ackermann notched a goal, 0-9, to the right of BAYER's Leslie Mendel. Leslie Mendel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 87th minute, Jupp Bast got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, BAYER's Leslie Mendel got control of the ball when Burkhard Michalke tried to sneak it across the goal line. When BSC Jena 98's Heiner Klütz in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BAYER's goalie prevented a goal. Leslie Mendel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anton Ackermann, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Leslie Mendel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anton Ackermann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The BAYER fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. BSC Jena 98 were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
