Vitus Hermann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Ronan Kaestner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Florent Franceschini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lionel Frey struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Tim Füglister didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC BASEL. After a defensive mix-up in Unterengstringen AC's zone, Lionel Frey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tim Füglister came out of the goal and Lionel Frey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half FC BASEL were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lionel Frey to make the kick off. Florent Franceschini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronan Kaestner having to interfere. 89 minutes into the match, Unterengstringen AC's goalkeeper Tim Füglister had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maxence Faure. In the 94th minute, Vitus Hermann made a precise shot to the right of Ronan Kaestner. FC BASEL's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
