Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Gunt's Geraldo Nussbaum got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Gunt booed when Matélon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giuseppe Eisenhauer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maurice Bauer stood somewhat misplaced when Geraldo Nussbaum came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 4 minute. Geraldo Nussbaum sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dominic Kappel hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Quintinus Freeh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reinhard Tomasi, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Quintinus Freeh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giuseppe Eisenhauer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Gunt getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Lionel Jenni hit a great ball. Reinhard Tomasi struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Quintinus Freeh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Matélon. Quintinus Freeh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinhard Tomasi in the 27th minute of play. Rodolphe Rochat got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 3-0 in the right cross in the 29th match minute before Maurice Bauer had time to react. Maurice Bauer was a little too slow when Geraldo Nussbaum got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 35th minute. The score was now 4-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geraldo Nussbaum in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maurice Bauer saved Matélon from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Geraldo Nussbaum's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Maurice Bauer was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Nicola Diederich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurice Bauer having to interfere.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reinhard Tomasi was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geraldo Nussbaum in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maurice Bauer saved Matélon from getting behind. In the 55th minute, Rodolphe Rochat left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gunt fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Maurice Bauer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geraldo Nussbaum in the 58th minute of play. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Matélon's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Geraldo Nussbaum was slow to take the kick. During this time Gunt's players had a chance to rest. Quintinus Freeh made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Heinrich Zwirn sent off a good shot on target. Geraldo Nussbaum received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Maurice Bauer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodolphe Rochat struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. When Rodolphe Rochat came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Gunt fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodolphe Rochat couldn't finish the play. Geraldo Nussbaum struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Maurice Bauer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gunt. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolphe Rochat in the 93rd minute of play forced Matélon's goalkeeper Maurice Bauer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodolphe Rochat's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maurice Bauer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. If Geraldo Nussbaum had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Gunt had played much better football throughout.
