In the 12th minute Andy Held shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robin Beike saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clayton Helmholz missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 26 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Robin Beike right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in FC Winznau's zone, Andy Held stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robin Beike came out of the goal and Andy Held tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Baruch Kündig hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. 44 minutes into the game, FC Winznau's Conor Schallberger nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cláudio Taffarel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The Berne Wanderers FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Winznau were winning 1-2.

In the 53rd minute, Baruch Kündig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Bodo Schwaller kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cláudio Taffarel. That made the score 2-3 in the 95 minute of play.
