Tomasz Imbor started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Tomasz Imbor lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Franziskus Fugère. Steve Kobel charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Steve Kobel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Castagnola booed when NEWELLS SWISS BOYS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steve Kobel didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Tomasz Imbor came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Castagnola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomasz Imbor couldn't finish the play. 8 minutes into the match, Castagnola's goal looked a bit too open when Steve Kobel came free, but Tobias von Planta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Franziskus Fugère took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomasz Imbor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 12th minute Tomasz Imbor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franziskus Fugère saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute, Helge Macchia reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Franziskus Fugère. The goal made the score 2-0. Castagnola's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Reynold Renkewitz in the 21st minute. After some careless play in the NEWELLS SWISS BOYS defense, Quirino Rauber kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Franziskus Fugère. The NEWELLS SWISS BOYS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Franziskus Fugère should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Quirino Rauber got free with Franziskus Fugère in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 30th minute Tomasz Imbor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franziskus Fugère saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's Franziskus Fugère played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomasz Imbor in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean-Christophe Da Frassini in the 32nd minute of play forced Castagnola's goalkeeper Tobias von Planta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 33 minutes Castagnola's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Roger Farber who took care of the corner kick. Roger Farber made a great header on NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's corner, it was just that Castagnola's Tobias von Planta managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 40th minute Steve Kobel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tobias von Planta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Castagnola's Tomasz Imbor got a free kick in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.
The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mitja Ziegler during the 50th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Franziskus Fugère made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Helge Macchia in the 52nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Steve Kobel got free with Tobias von Planta in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Castagnola's Olivier Martinelli got a free kick in the 58th minute. Franziskus Fugère made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomasz Imbor in the 61st minute of play. In the 65th minute, Helge Macchia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Castagnola's Igor Marino was substituted for Quirino Rauber. Helge Macchia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Helge Macchia took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Franziskus Fugère. Franziskus Fugère dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Castagnola's Tobias von Planta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean-Christophe Da Frassini in the 73rd minute of play. A collision led to NEWELLS SWISS BOYS getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Enea Schürmann hit a great ball. Franziskus Fugère showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reynold Renkewitz in the 76th minute of the match. Tobias von Planta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean-Christophe Da Frassini in the 77th minute of play. NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's Franziskus Fugère played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomasz Imbor in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Steve Kobel made a precise shot to the right of Tobias von Planta. Castagnola's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Helge Macchia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Helge Macchia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Franziskus Fugère. NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Helge Macchia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Castagnola fans cheered their team off the field, for while NEWELLS SWISS BOYS had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
