Noel Van Acht made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefaan Bouwmans in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of FORTUNA booed when U18 Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thierry Sterkx didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Pieter-Maarten Englebert took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Bernard Klijnhens to make any attempt to save it. U18 Academy's Bernard Klijnhens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save U18 Academy from getting a goal against them. U18 Academy's defense didn't have a chance, in the 17th minute, when Pieter-Maarten Englebert scored to the left of an out of position Bernard Klijnhens, making the score, 2-0. With a little luck, U18 Academy's Bernard Klijnhens got control of the ball when Timmy Eli tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pieter-Maarten Englebert struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Bernard Klijnhens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FORTUNA. When Alan Scheerens fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U18 Academy's protests and gave Alan Scheerens a yellow card for diving instead. Alan Scheerens kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After 34 played minutes U18 Academy got a freekick which was hit by Gust Huyberechts. Bernard Klijnhens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timmy Eli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute Diogo Resende shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernard Klijnhens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, U18 Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Van Cauwenberg came free, but Bernard Klijnhens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernard Klijnhens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diogo Resende in the 41st minute of the match. Bernard Klijnhens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timmy Eli, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Noel Van Acht showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steffe Andriesens in the 43rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diogo Resende in the 46th minute of play forced U18 Academy's goalkeeper Bernard Klijnhens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Timmy Eli notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of U18 Academy's Bernard Klijnhens. Bernard Klijnhens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stefaan Bouwmans stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Timmy Eli scored 4-0 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bernard Klijnhens, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Matthis Vranckx managed to get in a good position for a shot. FORTUNA's supporters rose to their feet, but Matthis Vranckx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernard Klijnhens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59th minute Joonatan Govaerts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernard Klijnhens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, U18 Academy's Alan Scheerens nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Noel Van Acht made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. After 67 minutes, Ive Van Caubergen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U18 Academy and the FORTUNA players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 67th minute, Ive Van Caubergen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joonatan Govaerts in the 71st minute of play forced U18 Academy's goalkeeper Bernard Klijnhens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Joonatan Govaerts had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bernard Klijnhens. U18 Academy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joonatan Govaerts was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. Timmy Eli took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bernard Klijnhens. Bernard Klijnhens dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-1. Tobias Hylen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. During the 86th minute of the match Alan Scheerens completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Alan Scheerens a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Bernard Klijnhens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diogo Resende in the 88th minute of the match. After some careless play in the U18 Academy defense, Pieter-Maarten Englebert kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bernard Klijnhens. The U18 Academy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bernard Klijnhens should have stopped the shot. Diogo Resende hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. When the referee ended the match the FORTUNA players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
