With an extended leg and a bit of luck George Vrints prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Matias Van Arschot got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the game, Freddy Ombelets was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Beuckieboys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Evergem the free kick. After 25 played minutes Beuckieboys got a freekick which was hit by Freddy Ombelets. Beuckieboys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bjorn Cappelsmans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. George Vrints took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herald Van Landeghem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bjorn Cappelsmans couldn't finish the play.
