Anton Iven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Van Acker in the 3rd minute of play. In the 6th minute Arnoud Van der Perren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebbe Jacobs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 6th minute, Gustaaf Van Acker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Casper Strupar hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when SC Schellebelle's Sam-Lucas Helssens in the 11th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Anton Iven was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Hakuna Matata through an amazing save. After 13 played minutes SC Schellebelle got a freekick which was hit by Christof Gheysen. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Arnoud Van der Perren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hakuna Matata's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnoud Van der Perren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebbe Jacobs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in SC Schellebelle's zone, Arnoud Van der Perren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebbe Jacobs came out of the goal and Arnoud Van der Perren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Richmond Everts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, SC Schellebelle's Christof Gheysen got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After 35 minutes, Joe Roeckeloos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hakuna Matata and the SC Schellebelle players grew even worse after the yellow card. 40 minutes into the match, SC Schellebelle's Sam-Lucas Helssens sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anton Iven narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Richmond Everts who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of Anton Iven when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hakuna Matata's goalkeeper Anton Iven, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ludo Meys was the one to do the kick off. Sebbe Jacobs was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Tommas Steurms. Sebbe Jacobs made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arnoud Van der Perren in the 55th minute. Anton Iven showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sam-Lucas Helssens in the 58th minute of the match. Richmond Everts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnoud Van der Perren's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 62ndth minute, Sebbe Jacobs skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Arnoud Van der Perren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebbe Jacobs read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. When Arnoud Van der Perren came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Hakuna Matata fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnoud Van der Perren couldn't finish the play. After 91 played minutes SC Schellebelle got a freekick which was hit by Christof Gheysen. Ludo Meys struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Sebbe Jacobs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hakuna Matata. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
