After having played for 20 minutes, Andris Smeulders managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lommel SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andris Smeulders was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Moerdijk's Kim Thielens got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Andris Smeulders struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Jim Meersman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lommel SK. When Kim Thielens came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Moerdijk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kim Thielens couldn't finish the play. If Richy Bosmans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matijs Worteleers's late challenge caught a Lommel SK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Matijs Worteleers helped the player get up and apologised. In the 42nd minute, Matijs Worteleers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giovanny Wuyts in the 47th minute of play forced Moerdijk's goalkeeper Jim Meersman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Lommel SK booed when Moerdijk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jens Stocks didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Moerdijk's Albertus Smidts got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 85th minute, Giovanny Wuyts made a precise shot to the right of Jim Meersman. Moerdijk's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lommel SK eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
