The audience thought a goal was coming when Gwen Roels got free with Norbert Simons in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 23 minutes into the match, Fred Paschiers notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of FC Hives's Hector Callewaert. The tension between the Zeb United and the FC Hives players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 41st match minute, Zeb United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tibaut Ablij to maneuver through the defense. Norbert Simons made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Gwen Roels sent off a good shot on target. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot was the one to do the kick off. FC Hives's Gwen Roels got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Martin Devaux's late challenge caught a FC Hives's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot in the 84th minute of play forced Zeb United's goalkeeper Norbert Simons to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Norbert Simons was relentless in the 85th minute of the game.
