The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the match, VVV Heusden-Zolder's Piet Vissenaekens sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robby Descamps narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Piet Vissenaekens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robby Descamps having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Max De Keijsere in the 16th minute of play forced VVV Heusden-Zolder's goalkeeper Arno Delaplace to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. KSV Varenwinkel's Max De Keijsere managed to work through VVV Heusden-Zolder's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Max De Keijsere dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Piet Vissenaekens kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Oliver Caers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Robby Descamps took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piet Vissenaekens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oliver Caers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Arno Delaplace made a huge save. Daan Pineurs charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daan Pineurs the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Robby Descamps showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Piet Vissenaekens, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. If Francis Vanooteghem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in KSV Varenwinkel's zone, Piet Vissenaekens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robby Descamps came out of the goal and Piet Vissenaekens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Piet Vissenaekens in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robby Descamps prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Piet Vissenaekens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robby Descamps having to interfere.

Francis Vanooteghem sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Piet Vissenaekens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Robby Descamps tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 64th minute Francis Vanooteghem shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robby Descamps saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Piet Vissenaekens had several of the KSV Varenwinkel's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 66 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Robby Descamps as he didn't even see the shot coming. Francis Vanooteghem blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robby Descamps having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Piet Vissenaekens got free with Robby Descamps in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, KSV Varenwinkel's Robby Descamps got control of the ball when Piet Vissenaekens tried to sneak it across the goal line. Piet Vissenaekens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robby Descamps having to interfere. Matt Vischkens kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Robby Descamps showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francis Vanooteghem, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kieth Van der Goten during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 93 played minutes VVV Heusden-Zolder got a freekick which was hit by Kieth Van der Goten. Luukas Klinkenberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arno Delaplace. VVV Heusden-Zolder's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Arno Delaplace showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Max De Keijsere in the 95th minute of the match.
