Balduíno Fonseca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Paulo Caneças made a huge save. The supporters of Whitby booed when Pewsey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmundo Caneças didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th minute, one of Pewsey:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pewsey. 14 minutes into the match, Pewsey's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Ericeira came free, but Paulo Caneças reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Ericeira in the 22nd minute of play forced Pewsey's goalkeeper Paulo Caneças to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Whitby getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Custódio Galão hit a great ball. Hector Malheiro struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Edmundo Fontão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pewsey. Hector Malheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Edmundo Fontão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Whitby's Balduíno Fonseca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo Caneças narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The wind increased when Nuno Ericeira made the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the game, Whitby's Balduíno Fonseca nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Caneças made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Paulo Caneças took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Balduíno Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The long shot by Luís Jacinto in the 66th minute really tested Edmundo Fontão's skills. Balduíno Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Balduíno Fonseca might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Caneças. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Balduíno Fonseca ran back to his position shaking his head. Pewsey's Edmundo Caneças got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 98th minute, Custódio Galão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
