After 11 minutes, Pompílio Areosa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Morpeth and the Real Madrid players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pompílio Areosa hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Viveque Montinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Preto in the 12th minute of play. With a little luck, Morpeth's Viveque Montinho got control of the ball when Ailton Viegas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Viveque Montinho yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Real Madrid's Balduíno Amado got a free kick in the 43rd minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

A collision led to Morpeth getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Ivó Fontão hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ailton Viegas in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Viveque Montinho saved Morpeth from getting behind. David Preto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Viveque Montinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Viveque Montinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ailton Viegas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When David Preto came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Real Madrid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Preto couldn't finish the play. 63 minutes into the game, Real Madrid's Ailton Viegas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Viveque Montinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After 67 minutes of play, Real Madrid's David Preto made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Viveque Montinho was left in no man's land by his defense there! Diamantino Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hipólito Lourenço in the 74th minute of play. Morpeth's Viveque Montinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Preto in the 89th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Real Madrid had won after a very even match.
