Howden United's supporters rose to their feet, but Heitor Areosa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Serineu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Afonso Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Carlos Serineu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the match, Braunton's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Pereira came free, but Carlos Serineu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Edmundo Chafes came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Braunton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Chafes couldn't finish the play. After 9 minutes of play, Howden United's Heitor Areosa made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlos Serineu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Heitor Areosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Howden United's Nuno Areosa got a free kick in the 21st minute. A hard shot 26 in the game by Edmundo Chafes from a close distance when the talented Simão Regalado managed to make a qualified save. Howden United's players were relieved. After 31 played minutes Braunton got a freekick which was hit by Fábio Moco. After 34 minutes, Diamantino Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Braunton and the Howden United players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Heitor Areosa came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Howden United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Heitor Areosa couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute, Afonso Pereira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlos Serineu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Heitor Areosa was the one to do the kick off. If Afonso Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Toni Cunha charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Toni Cunha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Afonso Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edmundo Chafes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Serineu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heitor Areosa , who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Howden United's zone, Teta Pedrosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Regalado came out of the goal and Teta Pedrosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Edmundo Chafes, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 71 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Simão Regalado was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 76th minute of the match, Afonso Pereira got a very nice opportunity to score, but Carlos Serineu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Heitor Areosa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carlos Serineu. That made the score 0-3 in the 78 minute of play. After 88 played minutes Braunton got a freekick which was hit by Teta Pedrosa. When Cláudio Fontão fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Braunton's protests and gave Cláudio Fontão a yellow card for diving instead. Cláudio Fontão kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Toni Cunha scored 0-4 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Serineu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Braunton supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Howden United's performance. The match ended with a win for Howden United.
