In the 10th minute João Carlos Firmino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Serineu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmundo Chafes struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Hélio Serineu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Braunton. Berkhamsted's Hélio Serineu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Chafes in the 21st minute of play. João Carlos Firmino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Serineu having to interfere. After 26 minutes, Albertino Lando mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Berkhamsted and the Braunton players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Berkhamsted getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Albertino Lando hit a great ball. Teta Pedrosa struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. The Braunton fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when Braunton's Teta Pedrosa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Teta Pedrosa in the 52nd minute of play forced Berkhamsted's goalkeeper Hélio Serineu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teodoro Maurito during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 58 minutes into the game, one of Braunton:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. João Carlos Firmino 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Serineu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Teta Jacinto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Berkhamsted's supporters rose to their feet, but Teta Jacinto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Serineu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Teta Jacinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
