The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tiago Malheiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Alton booed when Welford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrique Onas didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Welford's zone, Tiago Malheiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavio Amado came out of the goal and Tiago Malheiro tried to chip the ball over his head. After 56 played minutes, Alton's Manuel Vila-Santa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Flavio Amado came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Alton reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fábio Fontão in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emílio Almeida saved Alton from getting behind. Emílio Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fábio Fontão in the 62nd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Rogério Zamora's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Flavio Amado was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Flavio Amado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Alton walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
