Edmundo Areosa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 18th match minute, Os Intocaveis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henrique Meneses to maneuver through the defense. After 19 played minutes, Skelmersdale's Carlos Valies shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edmundo Areosa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Skelmersdale reached it. Custódio Nascimento came free in the 21st minute and tried to tip the ball over Edmundo Areosa, but to the joy of Os Intocaveis's supporters the ball went over. Carlos Valies might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edmundo Areosa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Valies ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Os Intocaveis's zone, Miguel Vila-Santa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmundo Areosa came out of the goal and Miguel Vila-Santa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edmundo Areosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Valies in the 32nd minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Carlos Valies had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edmundo Areosa. Os Intocaveis's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Valies was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 40 minutes of play, Skelmersdale's Carlos Valies made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edmundo Areosa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Carlos Valies blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edmundo Areosa having to make a save. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gregório Maurito stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Carlos Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skelmersdale's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Correia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmundo Areosa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Miguel Vila-Santa in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edmundo Areosa saved Os Intocaveis from getting behind. Os Intocaveis's Camilo Tenória pulled a muscle in his leg after 64 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 64 minutes, Miguel Vila-Santa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Skelmersdale and the Os Intocaveis players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 65th match minute, Skelmersdale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Vila-Santa to maneuver through the defense. If Carlos Valies had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Os Intocaveis booed when Skelmersdale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Vila-Santa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 72nd minute, Skelmersdale's Carlos Valies ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edmundo Areosa. Edmundo Areosa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Edmundo Areosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Valies, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edmundo Areosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Valies, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After a rather tough play, Skelmersdale's Tadeu Pedrosa got a free kick in the 83rd minute. 85 minutes into the match, Skelmersdale's goal looked a bit too open when Fábio Ganete came free, but Viveque Matta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 86 minutes into the match, Os Intocaveis's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Valies came free, but Edmundo Areosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
