The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Weaverham's Emílio Serineu got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Rodrigo Teive had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emílio Serineu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eduardo Manarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luís Lourenço showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Teive, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Rodrigo Teive notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Africa's Luís Lourenço. Luís Lourenço was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Delmano Flores got free with Emílio Serineu in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 22nd match minute, Africa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Avelino Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the game, Africa's Avelino Sampaio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emílio Serineu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Pôncio Regalado hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Luís Lourenço made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Teive in the 37th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Rodrigo Teive put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Lourenço. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Teive in the 43rd minute of play forced Africa's goalkeeper Luís Lourenço to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute, Rodrigo Teive ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Lourenço was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. Disappointed in the 1-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Rodrigo Teive made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Africa's goalkeeper Luís Lourenço had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rodrigo Teive. After 53 played minutes Weaverham got a freekick which was hit by Balduíno Correia. Edmundo Moco struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Emílio Serineu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Africa. In the 60th minute, Rui Flores made a precise shot to the right of Luís Lourenço. Africa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-6. Rodrigo Teive's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Lourenço read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Teive in the 70th minute of play forced Africa's goalkeeper Luís Lourenço to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hector Ramos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Luís Lourenço made a huge save. In the 85th minute Rodrigo Teive shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Lourenço saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Lourenço showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Flores in the 90th minute of the match.
