Tristan Sharpe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jimmy Tompkins's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Samuel Buckley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Andy Inghams short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Tony Beresford to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Terry Connell kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Shepshed's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jon Fuller 38 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. The long shot by Freddy Hampton in the 44th minute really tested Tony Beresford's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Rich Hilton kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match.

After a defensive mix-up in Wheaton Aston City's zone, Tristan Sharpe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Samuel Buckley came out of the goal and Tristan Sharpe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Shepshed's Tony Beresford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jon Fuller in the 58th minute of play. Shepshed's Jack North got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Samuel Buckley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimmy Tompkins in the 62nd minute of play. Tristan Sharpe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Samuel Buckley made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jack North in the 64th minute of play forced Wheaton Aston City's goalkeeper Samuel Buckley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 65 played minutes Wheaton Aston City got a freekick which was hit by Cliff Wellings. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tristan Sharpe got free with Samuel Buckley in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 86 minutes into the match, Wheaton Aston City's goalkeeper Samuel Buckley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tristan Sharpe.
