In the 3rd match minute, Wuhan FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Woodyat to maneuver through the defense. In the 5th minute Brad Boothroyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harvey Eubank saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wesley Tonkin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodney Thornton having to interfere. After 11 played minutes Wuhan FC got a freekick which was hit by Huey Sheene. Grant Dowrick could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Harvey Eubank made a huge save. Wesley Tonkin struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Rodney Thornton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wuhan FC. 24 minutes into the match, Wuhan FC's goalkeeper Harvey Eubank had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Grant Dowrick. 1-0 became the score in the 26th minute when Damien Dewhirst elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, Vernon Ashton dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Harvey Eubank, 2-0. Harvey Eubank made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vernon Ashton in the 32nd minute of play. Wuhan FC's Harvey Eubank played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grant Dowrick in the 33rd minute of play. Charles Mead received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Rodney Thornton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Wesley Tonkin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rodney Thornton. Tiki Taka Barcelona's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wesley Tonkin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Rodney Thornton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Michael Woodyat went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wesley Tonkin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Michael Woodyat got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 57 minutes into the match, Wuhan FC's Michael Woodyat sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rodney Thornton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Harvey Eubank came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Tiki Taka Barcelona's Grant Dowrick. But to his dismay, Grant Dowrick quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. The Tiki Taka Barcelona players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
