Spectators: 8496 (Terracing: 6373, Seating: 1954, VIP seats: 169) Budleigh Salterton's Jools Beard started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jools Beard received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luke Hurst came out and tried to block the shot, but Jools Beard slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 4th minute. Budleigh Salterton's Jools Beard got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 10 minutes into the match, La Massana's goalkeeper Luke Hurst had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aaron Philpott. In the 11th minute, La Massana's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Aaron Philpott fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Luke Hurst was out of position in the 12 minute of play, and Jools Beard capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jools Beard really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Glyn Hartshorn tried to clear up in front of Luke Hurst but instead he got an unlucky hit on the ball which made it go via the left pole into goal meaning 3-0 in the 20th matchminute. A very disappointing self made goal. Aaron Philpott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luke Hurst having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Budleigh Salterton's goal looked a bit too open when Lenny Mabbutt came free, but Alan Simms reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 32 minutes into the game, Jools Beard recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Luke Hurst. Jools Beard showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. Luke Hurst made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stephen Moyse in the 38th minute. Budleigh Salterton's Alan Simms played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lenny Mabbutt in the 40th minute of play. After 50 minutes of play, La Massana's Will Westwood made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alan Simms was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Will Westwood stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jools Beard kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. If Will Westwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute Will Westwood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alan Simms saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Will Westwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Alan Simms tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Barrie Currie's late challenge caught a Budleigh Salterton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Barrie Currie helped the player get up and apologised. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stephen Moyse during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alan Simms made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Des Linkletter in the 82nd minute of play. Andre Titmuss charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andre Titmuss the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, La Massana's Andre Titmuss got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Luke Hurst showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aaron Philpott, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Stephen Moyse managed to get in a good position for a shot. Budleigh Salterton's supporters rose to their feet, but Stephen Moyse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luke Hurst breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 91st minute Aaron Philpott shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luke Hurst saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jools Beard struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Luke Hurst didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Budleigh Salterton. Aaron Philpott might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luke Hurst. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aaron Philpott ran back to his position shaking his head. After 100 played minutes Budleigh Salterton got a freekick which was hit by Brendon Kaye. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Budleigh Salterton fans cheered their team off the field, for while La Massana had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
