Iacob Mateescu's late challenge caught a FC BARCELONA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Virgil Potoroacă went to the wrong direction when Adrian Alexandru was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Virgil Potoroacă took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurel Popeneciu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 48th minute Claudiu Perișoară shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pompiliu Nicolae saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aurel Popeneciu was the one to do the kick off. FC BARCELONA's Virgil Potoroacă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Enceanu in the 52nd minute of play. Leonard Stănilă's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pompiliu Nicolae firmly grabbed it by the left post. Virgil Potoroacă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurel Popeneciu, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Claudiu Perișoară fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pompiliu Nicolae having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Claudiu Perișoară kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Pompiliu Nicolae. That made the score 0-2 in the 93 minute of play. When the final whistle sounded FC BARCELONA left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than CSA Steaua Bucuresti.
