FC Hermannstadt's Marcu Vieru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicodim Almăgean in the 34th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Victor Hoancă stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pendekar Gombal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Codrin Penaru having to make a save. After some careless play in the Borussia Dortmund defense, Vintilă Miclauș kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Codrin Penaru. The Borussia Dortmund fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Codrin Penaru should have stopped the shot. 71 minutes into the match, FC Hermannstadt's Iacob Ichim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Codrin Penaru narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pendekar Gombal in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Codrin Penaru saved Borussia Dortmund from getting behind. Fernandão Rossi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pendekar Gombal might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Codrin Penaru. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pendekar Gombal ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 76th minute, Aurelio Garikoitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pendekar Gombal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pendekar Gombal took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Codrin Penaru. Codrin Penaru dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-0. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 9-0 when Pendekar Gombal sped through Borussia Dortmund's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Codrin Penaru. Victor Hoancă recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marcu Vieru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicodim Almăgean in the 93rd minute of play. When the match clock showed 94 minutes, the score became 10-0 when Pendekar Gombal sped through Borussia Dortmund's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Codrin Penaru. There was no doubt that FC Hermannstadt were the better team. FC Hermannstadt's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
