The referee showed Horia Năstase the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of BATALIONUL 20 -STEAUA- booed when CS Targoviste was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horia Năstase didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcu Flamaropol received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Nistor Beligan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the game, Marcu Flamaropol recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nistor Beligan. Marcu Flamaropol showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Teodor Aursulesei managed to get in a good position for a shot. CS Targoviste's supporters rose to their feet, but Teodor Aursulesei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugen Chiuzbaian breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Marcu Flamaropol got free in front of the goal in the 20th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Nistor Beligan was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Ionel Răica lost his temper 33 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 32nd minute of the game. One of BATALIONUL 20 -STEAUA-:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CS Targoviste:s goal. In the 35th minute there was a penalty for CS Targoviste. Rareș Pârâianu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eugen Chiuzbaian. 1-1. Eugen Chiuzbaian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Caloian, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gigi Teodorescu made a kick off. Martin Caloian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eugen Chiuzbaian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teodor Aursulesei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gigi Teodorescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Nistor Beligan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cezar Schiau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Martin Caloian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Chiuzbaian having to interfere. BATALIONUL 20 -STEAUA-'s Gigi Teodorescu got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the CS Targoviste defense, Gigi Teodorescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nistor Beligan. The CS Targoviste fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nistor Beligan should have stopped the shot. After 95 minutes, Iustinian Mitrofan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the BATALIONUL 20 -STEAUA- and the CS Targoviste players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 95 played minutes BATALIONUL 20 -STEAUA- got a freekick which was hit by Iustinian Mitrofan. BATALIONUL 20 -STEAUA- were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
