Gică Vaida could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Iulian Codru made a huge save. When Ştefan Iordănescu came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Cojani CS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ştefan Iordănescu couldn't finish the play. If Ştefan Iordănescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edgar Stana hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The supporters of balaur FC booed when Cojani CS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iurie Cosariu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 17 minutes of play, Cojani CS's Florin Nicodim made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Maxim Istrăteanu was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Horea Horațiu fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored balaur FC's protests and gave Horea Horațiu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st minute, Horea Horațiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iulian Codru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodor Teofil in the 23rd minute of play. After having played for 28 minutes, Florin Nicodim managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cojani CS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Florin Nicodim was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Edgar Stana fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored balaur FC's protests and gave Edgar Stana a yellow card for diving instead. Maxim Istrăteanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florin Nicodim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horea Horațiu in the 36th minute of play forced Cojani CS's goalkeeper Iulian Codru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gică Vaida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teodor Teofil blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Iulian Codru having to make a save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ştefan Iordănescu to make the kick off. Florin Nicodims short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Maxim Istrăteanu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Basarab Hobjilă charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Basarab Hobjilă the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd match minute, Cojani CS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basarab Hobjilă to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute Gică Vaida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iulian Codru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. balaur FC's Maxim Istrăteanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ştefan Iordănescu in the 68th minute of play. Cojani CS's Ştefan Iordănescu got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Iulian Codru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodor Teofil in the 74th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodor Teofil in the 75th minute of play forced Cojani CS's goalkeeper Iulian Codru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. balaur FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tudor Postelnicescu in the 81st minute. The corner ended in Tudor Postelnicescu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Cojani CS's Iulian Codru did a great save. In the 85th minute, Gică Vaida got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cojani CS's zone, Teodor Teofil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iulian Codru came out of the goal and Teodor Teofil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gică Vaida struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Iulian Codru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for balaur FC. Cojani CS's Iulian Codru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodor Teofil in the 93rd minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, balaur FC's Teodor Teofil sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iulian Codru narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Cojani CS players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
