The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to FC Bucovina getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. After having played for 9 minutes, Pompiliu Platon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Bucovina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pompiliu Platon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Petrică Zbârlea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gelu Cobâlcescu's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Remus Badea's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Dumitru Trifu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Pompiliu Platon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Petrică Zbârlea having to interfere. Dumitru Trifu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Breazu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Remus Badea got free with Dumitru Trifu in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 37 minutes into the match, FC Bucovina's Gavril Barna sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Petrică Zbârlea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dumitru Trifu was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Damian Breazu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Damian Breazu really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 46 minutes into the match, Gavril Barna had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Petrică Zbârlea. FC Flalex's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gavril Barna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gelu Cobâlcescu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Gelu Cobâlcescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petrică Zbârlea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gelu Cobâlcescu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Petrică Zbârlea having to make a save. Gelu Cobâlcescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Petrică Zbârlea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Damian Breazu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Flalex's supporters rose to their feet, but Damian Breazu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dumitru Trifu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ionuț Pârâianu struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Petrică Zbârlea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bucovina. The supporters of FC Flalex booed when FC Bucovina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dan Pușcariu didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Bucovina's Dumitru Trifu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Breazu in the 82nd minute of play. If Gelu Cobâlcescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, FC Bucovina's Pompiliu Platon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Petrică Zbârlea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 92 minutes into the match, FC Flalex's goalkeeper Petrică Zbârlea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pompiliu Platon. 94 minutes into the match, FC Flalex's goal looked a bit too open when Gelu Cobâlcescu came free, but Petrică Zbârlea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Flalex's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
