Costel Constantin started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihăiţă Nebunu in the 15th minute of play forced Fc Farul Constanta's goalkeeper Mugur Luncaniță to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 18th minute of the game. One of Fc Farul Constanta:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of VIITORUL BUZAU:s goal. Dumitru Belu shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. When VIITORUL BUZAU's Aurelian Nisipeanu, in the 24th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for VIITORUL BUZAU. If Tudor Lixandru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tudor Lixandru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Călin Bistreanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46thth minute of the game Aristide Ciocoiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VIITORUL BUZAU's Călin Bistreanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Mugur Luncaniță successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tudor Lixandru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Aristide Ciocoiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Aurelian Nisipeanu came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the VIITORUL BUZAU fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aurelian Nisipeanu couldn't finish the play. Mugur Luncaniță took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelian Nisipeanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Călin Bistreanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tudor Lixandru in the 71st minute of play. Aristide Ciocoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aristide Ciocoiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Călin Bistreanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Siadbei hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Mugur Luncaniță came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by VIITORUL BUZAU's Aurelian Nisipeanu. But to his dismay, Aurelian Nisipeanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The VIITORUL BUZAU fans cheered their team off the field, for while Fc Farul Constanta had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
