Lucian Oloieru didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Horia Grama went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 12 minutes into the match, FC Red Team's goal looked a bit too open when Horia Grama came free, but Lucian Oloieru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marius Manole's late challenge caught a FC Red Team's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marius Manole helped the player get up and apologised. Marius Manole kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Dorin Huțupan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcu Cucerzan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lucian Oloieru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 42nd minute of the match Marius Manole completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Marius Manole a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. If Laurențiu Dejeu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

If Horia Grama had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dorin Huțupan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Marcu Cucerzan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Horia Grama managed to get in a good position for a shot. CFR Cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Horia Grama was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucian Oloieru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
