Gilau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Savirsin the free kick. Gheorghe Stana recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 10 minutes, Ştefan Costescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Savirsin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ştefan Costescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Gheorghe Stana came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Savirsin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gheorghe Stana couldn't finish the play. Savirsin's Octavian Covaliu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Șerban Ciocâlteu in the 29th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ştefan Costescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Suşu was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manuel Suşu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Gilau's Petre Zub slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Octavian Covaliu. That made the score 2-0 after 46 minutes of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Petre Zub made a kick off. When Gheorghe Stana came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Savirsin fans jumped to their feet. Manuel Suşu made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Gheorghe Stana sent off a good shot on target. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Gilau fans cheered their team off the field, for while Savirsin had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
