Sergiu Corcoveanu started the match with the kick off. Bobby Ares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilian Lera in the 5th minute of the match. The supporters of Rapid București booed when Armata 2003 Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augustin Ponta didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Bobby Ares managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when Armata 2003 Cluj-Napoca's Sergiu Corcoveanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Bobby Ares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilian Lera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ovidiu Răica in the 23rd minute of play forced Armata 2003 Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Emilian Pora to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emilian Pora showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Avram Dănănae, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Bobby Ares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sergiu Corcoveanu in the 26th minute. After a rather tough play, Rapid București's Rareș Tatomir got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 34th minute, Valeriu Cosariu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bobby Ares. The goal made the score 1-0. Rapid București's Bobby Ares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emilian Lera in the 40th minute of play. If Ovidiu Răica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sergiu Corcoveanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Bobby Ares made a huge save. Marian Covrig charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marian Covrig the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Emilian Pora showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Avram Dănănae, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Ovidiu Răica got free with Emilian Pora in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 54 minutes into the game, Ovidiu Răica lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Emilian Pora. The crowd rose to their feet as Rapid București's Vali Cercelescu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Emilian Pora. That made the score 1-2 after 60 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ovidiu Răica got free with Emilian Pora in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 68 minutes into the game, Ovidiu Răica cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Emilian Pora was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 73 played minutes Armata 2003 Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Radu Chihaia. In the 75th minute, Emilian Lera got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bobby Ares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilian Lera in the 81st minute of the match. Bobby Ares came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Armata 2003 Cluj-Napoca's Sergiu Corcoveanu. But to his dismay, Sergiu Corcoveanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. After 90 played minutes Rapid București got a freekick which was hit by Stelian Tutuianu. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Rapid București eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
