Spectators: 7691 (Terracing: 5769, Seating: 1769, VIP seats: 153) FCSB Steaua's Dorel Petriceanu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th match minute, Lupii Dacici was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pavel Hăulică to maneuver through the defense. Gelu Armeanca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corneliu Carabulea in the 9th minute of play. The corner led FCSB Steaua's Teodor Tofan to fire away a dangerous shot which Gelu Armeanca despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Sebastian Miulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Dorel Petriceanu put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gelu Armeanca. Mihăiţă Gologan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Gelu Armeanca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorel Petriceanu in the 24th minute of play forced Lupii Dacici's goalkeeper Gelu Armeanca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Francisc Teaşcă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Gelu Armeanca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 30 minutes, Mihăiţă Gologan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FCSB Steaua's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mihăiţă Gologan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 33rd match minute, Lupii Dacici was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pavel Hăulică to maneuver through the defense. Gelu Armeanca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihăiţă Gologan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Corneliu Carabulea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gelu Armeanca having to interfere. Gelu Armeanca came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by FCSB Steaua's Corneliu Carabulea. But to his dismay, Corneliu Carabulea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The audience was convinced that Dorel Petriceanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gelu Armeanca was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. If Corneliu Carabulea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Mihăiţă Gologan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FCSB Steaua's Francisc Teaşcă got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dorel Petriceanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Gelu Armeanca made a huge save. A collision led to FCSB Steaua getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Corneliu Carabulea hit a great ball. If Francisc Teaşcă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the match, Lupii Dacici's goal looked a bit too open when Mihăiţă Gologan came free, but Gelu Armeanca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to FCSB Steaua getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Pavel Titulescu hit a great ball. With a little luck, Lupii Dacici's Gelu Armeanca got control of the ball when Francisc Teaşcă tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mihăiţă Gologan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gelu Armeanca having to interfere. Lupii Dacici's Gelu Armeanca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Lupii Dacici from getting a goal against them. Dorel Petriceanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gelu Armeanca having to interfere. Corneliu Carabulea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Gelu Armeanca made a huge save. 85 minutes into the game, Iustin Cozorici recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gelu Armeanca. Iustin Cozorici showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Through an outstanding action, after 88 minutes, Gelu Armeanca successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Mihăiţă Gologan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 92nd play minutes Dorel Petriceanu shot 0-4, a short shot which went by Gelu Armeanca and just under the crossbar into goal. 95 minutes into the match, FCSB Steaua's goal looked a bit too open when Liviu Bojonca came free, but Cezar Joja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
