The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horaţiu Blăniță in the 2nd minute of play forced Fan PC Servicii's goalkeeper Iacob Răduleț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Fan PC Servicii getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Aurel Marioara hit a great ball. In the 4th minute, Vadim Tudor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iacob Răduleț made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Edgar Onea sent off a good shot on target. POLI TIMISOARA's Zdzislaw Hajder was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 11th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. 16 minutes into the match, POLI TIMISOARA's goal looked a bit too open when Vadim Tudor came free, but Dinu Săvoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Șerban Georgescu fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Călin Hulubei in the 20th minute of play forced Fan PC Servicii's goalkeeper Iacob Răduleț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Grigore Petrea came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Fan PC Servicii fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Grigore Petrea couldn't finish the play. Iacob Răduleț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgar Onea in the 28th minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Fan PC Servicii's goalkeeper Iacob Răduleț had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgar Onea. Iacob Răduleț made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edgar Onea in the 37th minute. Fan PC Servicii's Iacob Răduleț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgar Onea in the 39th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horaţiu Blăniță in the 41st minute of play forced Fan PC Servicii's goalkeeper Iacob Răduleț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Fan PC Servicii's zone, Șerban Georgescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iacob Răduleț came out of the goal and Șerban Georgescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fan PC Servicii made a substitution. Albert Capșuneanu replaced Leontin Milcu. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vadim Tudor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper Dinu Săvoiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgar Oneț. When POLI TIMISOARA's Edgar Onea in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zdzislaw Hajder in the 64th minute of play forced Fan PC Servicii's goalkeeper Iacob Răduleț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 65 minutes into the game, Dorin Bădescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fan PC Servicii's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave POLI TIMISOARA the free kick. Dorin Bădescu hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Iacob Răduleț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zdzislaw Hajder in the 67th minute of play. A well done corner resulted in Aurel Marioara drilling the ball in to score 1-1 behind POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper. If Marian Mălaimare had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fan PC Servicii made a substitution. Nechifor Antonescu replaced Dorin Bădescu. In the 76th minute Horaţiu Blăniță shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iacob Răduleț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Fan PC Servicii's goal looked a bit too open when Călin Hulubei came free, but Iacob Răduleț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, POLI TIMISOARA's Dinu Săvoiu got control of the ball when Edgar Oneț tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner led Fan PC Servicii's Sorin Tăzlăuanu to fire away a dangerous shot which Dinu Săvoiu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, Fan PC Servicii's Vasile Dudău got a free kick in the 92nd minute.
